Tanker drivers want FG to reconstruct deplorable roads.

Benin – The Members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Worker (NUPENG) on Sunday decried the deplorable state of the nation’s highways.
The PTD National Chairman, Mr Salimon Oladiti, made the appeal at a press conference to mark the end of the two-day branch executive meeting in Benin.
They appealed to the Federal Government to urgently embark on the reconstruction of the roads which now posed grave danger to motorists across the country.
They urged government to reconstruction Ilorin-Oloru-Jebba Road, Calabar-Odukpani and many others roads linking the West and Eastern parts.
“Federal Government should wade into the unlawful and corrupt behaviour of some members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,’’ he said.
He said that the officers constitute nuisance on highways in the guise of checking illegal products from vandalised pipelines.
He said the appeal followed, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission, request that they should sensitise their members to cooperate with its officials deployed to tank farms.
