Obama on debate: Nothing patriotic 'about talking down America'()

Washington (CNN) As Republican presidential candidates lay into his record, President Barack Obama on Wednesday chalked up the attacks to expected election-year politics but said there was "nothing particularly patriotic" about their rhetoric. "Despite the perennial doom and gloom that I guess is inevitably part of a presidential campaign, America is winning right now," Obama said at a meeting of the Business Roundtable in Washington. "America is great right now. We can do even better." He cited job creation, the rising stock market and millions of Americans who now have health insurance as examples of a successful presidential run. 51st Ooni: Some ruling houses fault Giesi’s choice

By Gbenga Olarinoye Osogbo — There have been strings of rejection by the other ruling houses in Ile-Ife following the announcement of Ife kingmakers on Monday who asked the Giesi Ruling House to present candidates to fill the vacant stool of the Ooni of Ife. The Ooni-Ilare ruling house within the Ogboru dynasty, Ilare, Ile-Ife, has denounced the Ife Chieftaincy Declaration of 1980, on which Ife kingmakers, led by Obalufe of Ife, Oba Solomon Folorunso Omisakin and the Lowa of Ife, Oba Joseph Ijaodola requested the Giesi Ruling House to submit names to fill the vacant stool. The Ife kingmakers had at a briefing stated that going by the latest Ife Chieftaincy Declaration of 1980 which places emphasis on rotation, it was the turn of the Giesi ruling house to produce candidates for the exalted Ooni of Ife stool. Court restrains IGP, DSS, EFCC, others from arresting Kuku

By Soni Daniel As immediate past Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Kingsley Kuku appears before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to answer questions relating to his tenure, a Federal Capital Territory High Court has restrained the security agencies from arresting him. Kuku, who was invited by the EFCC in late July to clarify issues relating to his tenure at the Presidential Amnesty Office, however got approval to proceed with a major surgery on his knee in the United States of America. He is due to report to the EFCC on September 30, but there are claims that the security agencies have laid ambush to arrest him as he enters the country ahead of his appearance before the anti-graft agency. Lack of befitting hospitals in S-East worries Ugwuanyi

By Francis Igata ENUGU — Disturbed by the decadence in hospital facilities across the South-East geopolitical zone,Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has expressed worry over the lack of modern and well-equipped hospitals that would meet the health needs of the people in the zone. Underscoring the need for modern health facilities in the zone, the governor noted that when the diagnostic centre project embarked upon by Enugu State government is completed, it will reduce the current craving of the people for medical attention outside the country. Gent marked their UEFA Champions League debut with a hard-earned draw against Lyon, the Belgian champions holding on despite ending with nine players and thankful for a late Matz Sels penalty save.
